Update from Administrator – March 23, 2021

Good evening,

We hope this email finds you doing well and enjoying the gorgeous start to the spring season. Our residents have been enjoying as much outdoor time as possible and we look forward to scheduling outdoor activities/entertainment in the very near future.

We continue to remain free of the Covid-19 virus and weekly testing of our staff is ongoing at this point in time. Our residents are no longer being tested on a weekly basis but we have the resources available to test if a resident presents with any questionable symptoms. Despite our Covid free status, we continue to remain vigilant about our infection control practices and require all staff to wear a surgical mask while in the facility. We also strongly encourage each resident to wear a mask when outside their rooms as a secondary level of protection.

Indoor and outdoor visitation continues to be offered and we are thrilled to see our vaccinated residents connecting with their families on a deeper level now that they can have physical touch if desired. The process for scheduling visits remains the same: please contact the Recreation Department by calling the main number 860-489-5801. If you encounter any challenges with getting an appointment please do not hesitate to contact me so that I can assist. The Recreation Team is in the midst of some new transitions so we want to do all we can to ensure your requests are being handled timely.  In other good news- our beauty salon reopened last week and our residents have started receiving hair services. They look great!!

As mentioned in last week’s email, we have been paired up with Griffin Health to provide vaccines to our unvaccinated residents and to provide second doses of the Pfizer vaccine to those residents who have only received their first dose. This week one of our residents received her second dose of the Pfizer vaccine and we are currently preparing for an upcoming vaccine clinic to offer unvaccinated residents and staff the Johnson and Johnson vaccine. Please let me know if you would like your loved one to receive the vaccine so that we can get them added to our list. We encourage everyone to consider having their loved one receive the vaccine so that we can work towards achieving herd immunity which will help keep our residents and staff safe. Also, based on recent guidance it appears as though fully vaccinated residents will have fewer restrictions which is an added bonus to the benefits the vaccine provides.

Our next “Town Hall” meeting is scheduled for Thursday, March 25th at 1pm. We encourage residents and family members to contact us with questions or concerns you may have about the care we are offering. Our commitment is to be as transparent as possible and work to address any issues that arise.

Thank you and please stay safe and healthy!
