Update from Administrator – December 23, 2020
Dear Families,
I am happy to report that many of our residents and staff received the first dose of their Covid-19 Vaccination yesterday from CVS Pharmacy. The process went smoothly, and the only side effect experienced so far is some mild discomfort at the injection site- nothing different than our annual flu vaccines. We will continue closely monitoring our residents that received the vaccine for the next 72 hours and will provide updates if indicated. The second dose is scheduled to be administered on Tuesday, January 12th. There is a light at the end of the tunnel. We are hopeful that this vaccine will be a lifesaving turning point in the fight against COVID-19.
There have been many questions regarding visitation. Unfortunately, we continue to be on a lockdown for indoor visitation due to employees testing positive. Our most recent positive employee test was received yesterday which means we need to restart our 14-day window. (Good news- the employee who tested positive is not a direct caregiver and there has been no resident exposure). If we can stay free of positive cases for 14 days, we can then open for indoor visitation. During this time, we do still allow for outdoor visits (weather permitting), window visits and Facetime/Skype visits.
It is great to see how many family members and friends continue to bring in holiday items for our residents- they are well loved! Just a friendly reminder- when leaving something to be delivered to your loved one, please label the item with the resident’s name and room number so that we can ensure it gets delivered to the appropriate resident in a timely manner.
We will not be having our family call this week due to the holiday and lack of participation the past few weeks but please feel free to reach out to me with any questions or concerns you may have.
Our team here at Litchfield Woods wishes you and your families a very happy holiday!!
