Update from Administrator – January 8, 2021
Good evening,
Late this afternoon, we learned that one of our employees tested positive for COVID-19 through our ongoing testing. We continue to follow guidance and protocols set by CT-DPH and are testing our staff twice weekly currently. All residents are being swabbed once a week and had their swabs completed yesterday with no new positives identified at this time. The employee that tested positive is not a direct caregiver so there is minimal to no potential for exposure at this time due to our ongoing use of PPE to control the spread of the virus.
Unfortunately, indoor visits must be paused again for at least the next 14 days but we are able to continue outdoor visitation, if the weather is suitable for all parties. I apologize that we just notified you of being able to open back up for indoor visitation and now we need to cancel all recently scheduled visits. We are hopeful that we can remain free of any new cases and resume visitation soon. I will send out further communication as updates become available. Do not hesitate to contact us if you have any questions.
Please know that “alternative” visitation continues. Remember that we do offer iPads for our residents to use for video visits, phone calls, etc. to ensure that you and your loved ones remain in contact, as best as you can during these very uncertain times. Our team will do their best to accommodate requests for window visits as well.
Next Tuesday, Jan 12th, our residents and staff will be offered the Pfizer Covid vaccination again. Please let me know if you would like your loved one to receive the vaccine as we are completing consents again for this round. Also, please let me know if you do not want your loved one to receive the vaccine, whether they received it the first time or not. You can email me directly with your decision and we appreciate your timely response.
