Update From Administrator – July 30, 2020

Our team and I hope this email finds you safe and healthy.

I would like to take this opportunity to express my gratitude to the staff here at Litchfield Woods that continue to remain committed to providing exemplary care to our residents and are working hard to continue keeping everyone safe. I am only in my first week here but have already met many committed team members and I look forward to continue working alongside them to create an environment where our residents and staff can thrive.

Please remember that the outdoor visits must be pre-scheduled to ensure safe and healthy visits for you, the residents, and our staff.  It also allows our team to ensure your loved one is available and ready for your visit to make the most of your time together. These visits require appropriate PPE (masks) to be worn at all times and a social distance of 6 feet between you and your loved ones for the entirety of the visit. If these restrictions pose issues for you please keep in mind that we continue to offer other visitation alternatives like Facetime, Skype and window visits. You can schedule a visit by calling 860-489-5801 or emailing us at recreation@litchfieldwoodshcc.com. All visits should be scheduled through our recreation team so that we can provide the best experience for everyone involved without anyone feeling rushed.

We are happy to report that we are currently Covid free! We continue testing our residents on a weekly basis with no new positive results returned. We just completed another round of testing today and are hopeful that we will remain free of the virus. As we continue to maintain a Covid free status, we will hopefully be able to reduce restrictions under the guidance of the CDC and CT Department of Public Health to allow residents more time out of their rooms.

On Monday June 1st, Governor Lamont ordered nursing home workers to be regularly tested for the coronavirus disease. We were able to execute an agreement with our Care Partner to have testing done and testing continues on a weekly basis. All employee results received so far have returned as negative. Through ongoing testing we are hopeful to keep all our residents and employees safe while at Litchfield Woods.

Going forward, we will hosting a weekly conference call with our families to keep the lines of communication open. Our first “Town Hall” meeting is scheduled for Friday July 31st at 1pm. We encourage any residents and family members to contact me with any questions or concerns you may have about the care we are offering. Our commitment is to be as transparent as possible and work to address any issues that arise.

Thank you and please stay safe. I look forward to talking with you Friday and in the days ahead.
