Update From Administrator – August 3, 2020

Our team and I hope this email finds you safe and healthy. I am pleased to report that we have completed another round of testing for both our staff and residents with no new cases!  As we continue to remain free of any new cases, we will hopefully be able to reduce restrictions under the guidance of the CDC and Department of Public Health.

As always, we thank our team for the hard work they do while in our center; their chosen careers were never  simple or easy to begin with, but working through a pandemic and under such troubled times as they do today, only makes their jobs even tougher. We look forward to showing some appreciation to them during our version of National Nursing Home Week from August 9-15. Stayed tuned to our Facebook page for updates regarding raffles and to enjoy pictures of your loved ones. If you would prefer that your loved one not be featured on our Facebook page please let our Recreation team know.

We would like to extend a big welcome to Rebecca Guerrera who joined our team last week as our Director of Recreation. She brings a lot of energy and new ideas to the facility and we look forward to enhancing the environment for everyone together. She will be the point person for the scheduling of visits going forward.

A few quick points on our outdoor visits:

  • Must be pre-scheduled to ensure safe and healthy visits for you, the residents, and our staff.  It also allows our team to ensure your loved one is available and ready for your visit to make the most of your time together.
  • Each visitor must be screened prior to the visit. This screening consists of having your temperature taken, completing a brief series of questions and ensuring you have the appropriate PPE.
  • Face coverings must be worn at all times and a social distance of 6 feet between you and your loved one must be maintained for the entirety of the visit.
  • There can be no exchange of items during the visit nor can there be any sharing of beverages or food as the face mask must remain in place at all times.
  • Check out our website for specific guidelines and details regarding perimeter visits.
  • Alternative visits (Facetime, Skype, and window visits) are still taking place. You can schedule a visit by calling 860-489-5801 or emailing us at recreation@litchfieldwoodshcc.com.

Other updates from our recreation team include:

  • Tablets are available through recreation for residents to utilize for games or communication with family/friends. We are also in the process of acquiring additional ones so that we can provide access for more residents at the same time.
  • We are working together to enhance the amount of fresh airtime for residents so that they can get some much-needed sunshine while supervised to ensure social distancing.
  • We are also now starting to plan for resident social distancing activity programs like hallway bingo and other fun events.

As a reminder, our next “Town Hall” meeting is scheduled for Friday, August 7 at 2pm. We encourage any residents and family members to contact us with questions or concerns you may have about the care we are offering. Our commitment is to be as transparent as possible and work to address any issues that arise.

Thank you and please stay safe and healthy!
